SOA is architecture that represents software functionality as discoverable services on the network. A pure architectural definition of an SOA might be "an application architecture within which all functions are defined as independent services with well-defined invokable interfaces, which can be called in defined sequences to form business processes". Only a technical person can understand this definition. I've included a simplified version of this definition in the summary at the end of this article.
Service-oriented architectures are nothing new; the Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) and the Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) have long provided similar functionality. These existing approaches to service orientation, however, suffered from a few difficult problems like tightly coupled scenarios.
The combination of Web Services and SOAs resolves the issues of CORBA and DCOM approaches to SOAs. Now Web services have removed another barrier by allowing applications to interconnect in an object-model-neutral way. For example, using a simple XML-based messaging scheme, Java applications can invoke Microsoft .NET applications or CORBA-compliant, or even COBOL, applications. So, IBM CICS or IBM IMS transactions on a mainframe in Singapore can be invoked by a .NET application which in turn may be invoked by an agent running on an IBM Lotus Domino server in Munich. Best of all, the invoking application doesn't have to know where the transaction will run, what language it is written in or what route the message may take along the way. A service is requested, and an answer is provided. Web services is a set of enabling technologies for SOA, and SOA is becoming the architecture of choice for development of responsive, adaptive new applications.
The success of many Web services projects have shown that technology does exist that can enable you to implement a true SOA. SOA can be both an architecture and a programming model, a way of thinking about building software. An SOA enables you to design software systems that provide services to other applications through published and discoverable interfaces, and where the services can be invoked over a network. When you implement an SOA using Web services technologies, you create a new way of building applications within a more powerful, flexible programming model. You can reduce your development and ownership costs-and your implementation risk.
It's important to understand that Web services does not equal SOA. Web services is a collection of technologies, including XML, Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), Web Services Description Language (WSDL) and Universal Description, Discover and Integration (UDDI), which allow you to build programming solutions for specific messaging and application integration problems. Over time, these technologies can be expected to mature, and eventually be replaced with better, more-efficient, more-robust technology. But for the moment, the existing technologies are sufficient, and have already proven that you can implement an SOA today. SOA is the next wave of application development. Web services and SOA are about designing and building systems using heterogeneous network-addressable software components.
Architecturally, the modern enterprise architecture design could involve:
Service Oriented Event-Driven Loosely coupled Aligned with life cycle support processes Able to support assembly and integration Able to leverage existing applications and infrastructure
SOAs offer the following advantages over traditional approaches to distributed computing:
They offer business services across the platforms They provide location independence Services need not be at a particular system or particular network Completely loosely coupled approach Authentication and authorization support at every level The search and connectivity to other services is dynamic
Short-term benefits of implementation:
Enhances reliability Reduces hardware acquisition costs Leverages existing development skills Accelerates movement to standards-based server and application consolidation Provides a data bridge between incompatible technologies
Long-term benefits of implementation:
Provides the ability to build composite applications Creates a self-healing infrastructure that reduces management costs Provides truly real-time decision-making applications Enables the compilation of a unified taxonomy of information across an enterprise and its customer and partners
Benefits from the perspective of Business Value:
Ability to more quickly meet customer demands Lower costs associated with the acquisition and maintenance of technology Management of business functionality closer to the business units Leverages existing investments in technology Reduces reliance on expensive custom development.

Courtesy: http://www.devshed.com

<span style="font-weight: bold; With a push email smartphone, for example, the client’s mailbox is constantly updated with arriving email without user intervention. Smartphones announce new mail arrival with an alert.

Push email differs from conventional email systems that are “pull” oriented. Usually, when email is sent, it arrives at the recipient’s ISP's mail server, where it is held for collection. It might instead arrive at a website server, if the email is Web-based. Either way, email remains on the mail server until the recipient uses an email program to poll the mail server. If new mail is present, the email client “pulls” the mail to the client’s computer. The difference between this scheme and push email is that, with push email, the mail is pushed through to the client without waiting for polling.

Push email can be somewhat simulated using an email client set to frequently poll for new mail. However, this requires the email client to be open and running and is less efficient. Polling involves “handshaking” between the client software and the mail server. If the server is busy, the delay in completing the handshake can lengthen, causing the client to time out.

Therefore, polling should not be set so frequently as to cause premature time out errors. To prevent this, one must increase the delay between polling times. In many cases, a minute or two delay between “pull email” and push email schemes may not matter, but in some cases, a minute can make all the difference. Push email can be especially crucial to field reporters, stock market businessmen and other professionals for whom time is of the essence. A one-minute delay can make all the difference in breaking a story, losing money, or making a crucial sale.

BlackBerry was the first PDA to offer push email and gained near-instant success as a result. Today, many devices have incorporated push email, and its popularity continues to grow. Some of the products that have incorporated push email include Chatteremail for Treo, Nokia Intellisync Wireless Email, Roadsync and Sony Ericsson phones.

High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA)

HSDPA, short for High-Speed Downlink Packet Access, is a new protocol for mobile telephone data transmission. Essentially, the standard will provide download speeds on a mobile phone equivalent to an ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) line in a home, removing any limitations placed on the use of your phone by a slow connection. It is an evolution and improvement on W-CDMA, or Wideband Code Division Multiple Access, a 3G protocol. HSDPA improves the data transfer rate by a factor of at least five over W-CDMA. HSDPA can achieve theoretical data transmission speeds of 8-10 Mbps (megabits per second). Though any data can be transmitted, applications with high data demands such as video and streaming music are the focus of HSDPA.

HSDPA improves on W-CDMA by using different techniques for modulation and coding. It creates a new channel within W-CDMA called HS-DSCH, or high-speed downlink shared channel. That channel performs differently than other channels and allows for faster downlink speeds. It is important to note that the channel is only used for downlink. That means that data is sent from the source to the phone. It isn't possible to send data from the phone to a source using HSDPA. The channel is shared between all users which lets the radio signals to be used most effectively for the fastest downloads.

The widespread availability of HSDPA may take a while to be realized, or it may never be achieved. Most countries did not have a widespread 3G network in place as of the end of 2005. Many mobile telecommunications providers are working quickly to deploy 3G networks which can be upgraded to 3.5G when the market demand exists. Other providers tested HSDPA through 2005 and are rolling out the service in mid to late 2006. Early deployments of the service will be at speeds much lower than the theoretically possible rates. Early service will be at 1.8 Mbps, with upgrades to 3.6Mbps as devices are made available that can handle that increased speed.

The long-term acceptance and success of HSDPA is unclear, because it is not the only alternative for high speed data transmission. Standards like CDMA2000 1xEV-DO and WiMax are other potential high speed standards. Since HSDPA is an extension of W-CDMA, it is unlikely to succeed in locations where W-CDMA has not been deployed. Therefore, the eventual success of HSDPA as a 3.5G standard will first depend upon the success of W-CDMA as a 3G standard.HSDPA, short for High-Speed Downlink Packet Access, is a new protocol for mobile telephone data transmission. It is known as a 3.5G (G stands for generation) technology.
Source: http://wisegeek.com

Install windows media player 11 in non genuine or non acticvated windows bypassing WGA
Download the Windows Media Player 11 from Microsoft download page
Extract the zip using WinRAR / WinZIP
Open the folder containing the extracted files.
Manually run the following two files.

1. wmfdist11.exe
2. wmp11.exe

This will Install MP 11.

I/O Brush
Is a new drawing tool to explore colors, textures, and movements found in everyday materials by "picking up" and drawing with them. Designed to bring the Windows Presentation Foundation experience to the Web, Silverlight provides rich, immersive content that fits seamlessly with the rest of the Web development environment, including ASP.NET AJAX.

To reach the Web community at large, Silverlight needs to run successfully on a number of popular operating systems and in the most popular browsers. As a result, the first release supports the Firefox and Safari browsers running on Mac OS X as well as Firefox and Internet Explorer® running on Windows. More operating systems and browsers should be supported as the product evolves. In addition to these capabilities, Silverlight is also completely self-contained and has no dependencies on other products such as Windows Media Player for video playback or the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 for XAML parsing.

Source: http://msdn2.microsoft.com

Free E-Books Download

Download E-books / Tutors for .NET, Java, MCAD, MCAD, CISCO, PHP, Unix, Sql Server, Oracle and for all technologies from

http://books.rackhub.com/

World's Richest - Not Gates this time
The 67-year-old Mexican billionaire, who's frequently referred to as Carlos Slim, is now the richest person in the world. Slim is worth $67.8 billion, whereas Bill Gates, the richest person in the world for more than a decade, is worth about $59 billion.

How did this immigrant son (his father came to Mexico from Lebanon) become the "Warren Buffett of Latin America"? For one, he's shown a knack for turning around struggling companies. Shrewd investments and a booming Mexican stock market also help. From January 2007 through the end of June 2007, several major companies that Slim is involved in experienced huge gains in their stock prices.

Some of those gains include:

# America Movil -- 39 percent
# Telefonos de Mexico (Telmex) -- 34 percent
# IDEAL -- 28 percent

Slim's companies collectively make up about half of the Mexican stock exchange's value. He owns a third of America Movil, which amounts to $36.2 billion. He also owns computer retailer CompUSA, but is trying to sell it. It costs nothing to use and includes no spyware or pop-up advertising. Unlike other download methods, BitTorrent maximizes transfer speed by gathering pieces of the file you want and downloading these pieces simultaneously from people who already have them.

Some of the more common terms related to BitTorrent include,

Leeches - People who download files but do not share files on their own computer with others

Seed or seeder - A computer with a complete copy of a BitTorrent file (At least one seed computer is necessary for a BitTorrent download to operate.)

Swarm - A group of computers simultaneously sending (uploading) or receiving (downloading) the same file

.torrent - A pointer file that directs your computer to the file you want to download

Tracker - A server that manages the BitTorrent file-transfer process

Peer-to-peer file sharing is different from traditional file downloading. In peer-to-peer sharing, you use a software program (rather than your Web browser) to locate computers that have the file you want. Because these are ordinary computers like yours, as opposed to servers, they are called peers.
The file-transfer load is distributed between the computers exchanging files, but file searches and transfers from your computer to others can cause bottlenecks. Some people download files and immediately disconnect without allowing others to obtain files from their system, which is called leeching.
Another difference is that it uses a principal called tit-for-tat. Versions for x86, SPARC, and PowerPC platforms are available. Unix, Linux, FreeBSD and Windows are supported. C# (stable) and eventually Basic (unstable) can be used for development. System, Web, Remoting, security, Web services, and XML packages are ready. Some data components are ready (Oracle), some are unfortunately unstable (including Microsoft SQL client; the full list of packages can be found in the section MONO components).

The project started in 2001, but the first stable release, 1.0, was issued in Q2 2004. The work was initiated by Ximiana (and based upon the research project ROTOR), which was further bought by Novell.

Some Concludes

MONO provides a Framework within which applications can be developed. It enables applications to be compiled and executed.

The MONO Framework is implemented for several Unix / Linux platforms, which enables assemblies to be truly portable. MONO Framework packages are available for Windows, SuSe, RedHat, Debian, Mac OS, and OS/2.

Unfortunately, MONO does not implement full CLI functionality, which puts the choice of MONO as a development platform in question.
Windows Forms are not fully implemented yet (unstable) – GTK# must be used instead.
Code Access Security is missing.

If used, namespaces common for .NET and MONO applications compiled under MONO can be executed against either .NET or MONO Frameworks (still working under Linux).

System.Data is also not fully ported, especially SQLClient used for communication with Microsoft SQL Server databases.

The support for debugging assemblies is very poor. Actually – for now – it is only limited to tracing. We have to wait for the next releases.

C# is fully supported by the MONO Framework. VB.NET is marked as unstable.

Glade can be used for building a GUI defined in external XML files.

A rich number of commercial and open source database engines are supported.

Still take into account that MONO is under development. It is a promising alternative where portability is required

Speech Works
Speech Works (http://www.SpeechWorks.com) has been Microsoft 's development partner for MS Speech Server 2004, mainly providing their Text-to-Speech (TTS) engine to the SDK, and have recently merged with ScanSoft.Their TTS, known as RealSpeak, is excellent.

In addition to supporting multiple languages, it provides very natural sounding Speech in American, British, Australian, and Indian accents. These were used for voice and data.
Next 3G, which delivers data speeds from 384 kbps to 2 Mbps and over wireless interfaces such as GSM, TDMA and CDMA.

Access technologies

Frequency division multiple access (FDMA)The first-generation analog mobile access method; FDMA uses separate frequencies for each call. For example if there are four stations, each will receive their own frequency. Thus there is no interference between them. This reduces interference, but limits the number of users.

Time division multiple access (TDMA)TDMA allocates unique time slots to each user within each channel, thus allowing many users to access the radio frequency without anyone's interference. Each mobile conversation uses only a particular frequency slot of the time

Code division multiple access (CDMA)Commercially introduced in 1995 by Qualcomm, CDMA quickly became one of the world's fastest-growing wireless technologies. 3G CDMA networks provide more capacity for voice traffic, along with high-speed data capabilities, hence many cellular service providers are now building or upgrading to it.
CDMA is used in both 2G and 3G wireless technologies.

Global system for mobile communications (GSM)
Developed on TDMA protocol in Europe, GSM is now the worldwide standard technology for mobile communications. The advantage of GSM is that it provides a high level of security, globally accepted technology standards and superior sound quality.
For any GSM phone to work, it requires a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM), a card that contains your telephone account information. Thus, an Indian GSM phone can be used in USA and other countries too.

Wireless technology platforms

GPRS
GPRS, short for General Packet Radio Services, is an enhancement to GSM technology that integrates GSM and IP technology. GPRS offers an always-on, high-speed connectivity to the Net. Thus you can check your email on the move and surf the Web at high speeds.

WAP
In this hi-tech age, people on the move need any-time access to the Net. This is where WAP comes in. It provides Internet access to cell phones. It is an open standard for wireless protocols that is independent of the service providers. To display Web content, the cell phone must have a WAP browser. Nowadays, cell phones often come with WAP and GPRS technology.

EDGE
The new EDGE ((Enhanced Data GSM Environment) interface has been developed specifically to meet the bandwidth needs of 3G. Promoted by Ericsson, it offers high-speed data transfers over GSM networks with just a software upgrade to the handset. EDGE allows speeds up to 384 kbps.

TFT vs CSTN

STN (Super Twisted Nematic) is a type of LCD (liquid crystal display) flat-panel display technology.
CSTN stands for Color Super Twisted Nematic. Both terms can refer to the same type of color LCD display.
STN uses less power and is less costly than TFT technology, but at the expense of image quality and response time.
STN technology is a passive-matrix technology, meaning that each pixel must be "refreshed" individually many times each second. To accomplish this, the liquid crystal must react slowly enough to maintain state between refreshes. This keeps response times relatively low, and limits brightness and contrast.

Quote:TFT (thin film transistor) is a type of LCD (liquid crystal display) flat-panel display technology.

Compared to other types of LCD technology, TFT features excellent image quality and response time, but uses more power, and is more expensive.

TFT technology is an active-matrix technology, meaning that a tiny circuit (a transistor) is located next to each pixel, allowing the pixel to be turned on and off individually. This permits faster response time and greater contrast compared to passive-matrix technology.

TFT definitly brighter and more colorfull than CSTN, but TFT drain more power
and more expensive, forhandphone this is bad.

STN technology can actually compete with TFT, as long as th screen still black and white ....
But current development in STN technology lead to DSTN (dual scan super twisted nematic)technology, which promisenear TFT quality in brightness and contrast.

With this technology you can play java game more enjoyable because offaster screen response time than previous STN technology. It said it can achieve 100ms screen response time fromprevious 350ms. This number is what current TFT technology can easily archieve, but still far from CRT that has ±20msscreen response time.

But even if the response time of LCD is improve to 0ms, the blurry image when viewing image motion is still exist, it isbecause LCD works by directing light, when CRT works by pulsing lights. So in general LCD can not beat CRT quality intoday's technology.

Why the Circle is 360 and not Something......

A line of ancient peoples (Sumerians, Akkadians, and Babylonians) who lived in Mesopotamia (now southern Iraq) invented writing, observed the skies, and invented a 360-degree circle to describe their findings. About 3000 BC, the Sumerians invented writing. They also had a calendar, dating from 2400 BC, that divided the year into 12 months of 30 days each, that is, 360 days.

The Sumerians watched the Sun, Moon, and the five visible planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn), primarily for omens. They did not try to understand the motions physically. They did, however, notice the circular track of the Sun's annual path across the sky and knew that it took about 360 days to complete one year's circuit. Consequently, they divided the circular path into 360 degrees to track each day's passage of the Sun's whole journey. This probably happened about 2400 BC.

That's how we got a 360 degree circle. Around 1500 BC, Egyptians divided the day into 24 hours, though the hours varied with the seasons originally. Greek astronomers made the hours equal. About 300 to 100 BC, the Babylonians subdivided the hour into base-60 fractions: 60 minutes in an hour and 60 seconds in a minute. The base 60 of their number system lives on in our time and angle divisions.

An 100-degree circle makes sense for base 10 people like ourselves. But the base-60 Babylonians came up with 360 degrees and we cling to their ways-4,400 years later.

Another one from a book called "A History of Pi" byPetr Beckmann, a mathematician from Czechoslovakia. Here's the passage:
In 1936, a tablet was excavated some 200 miles from Babylon. Here one should make the interjection that the Sumerians were first to make one of man's greatest inventions, namely, writing; through written communication, knowledge could be passed from one person to others, and from one generation to the next and future ones. They impressed their cuneiform (wedge-shaped) script on soft clay tablets with a stylus, and the tablets were then hardened in the sun. The mentioned tablet, whose translation was partially published only in 1950, is devoted to various geometrical figures, and states that the ratio of the perimeter of a regular hexagon to the circumference of the circumscribed circle equals a number which in modern notation is given by 57/60 + 36/(60^2) (the Babylonians used the sexagesimal system, i.e., their base was 60 rather than 10).

The Babylonians knew, of course, that the perimeter of a hexagon is exactly equal to six times the radius of the circumscribed circle, in fact that was evidently the reason why they chose to divide the circle into 360 degrees (and we are still burdened with that figure to this day). The tablet, therefore, gives ... Pi = 25/8 = 3.125.

So that's who gave us the 360 degrees in the circle. See, assignment ofdegree-measure to angles is somewhat arbitrary. Some choices are morenatural than others, though, and when you're working in base 60, 6x60 is apretty natural choice.

As a sidenote, the actual ratio that the Babylonians talk about is6r/(2r*Pi) = 3/Pi, which is about 0.95493. They say it's 24/25 = .96. And you might ask why we chose Pi as the letter to represent the number 3.141592..., rather than some other Greek letter like Alpha or Omega. Well, it's Pi as in Perimeter - the letter Pi in Greek is like our letter P.

PEGION RANK - Secret Of Google's Success

Since i was one of the lovers of GOOGLE among the universe, i had a thought of the specials used by google (Some thing like YAHOO). It allows several users to share the same frequency by dividing it into different timeslots. The users transmit in rapid succession, one after the other, each using their own timeslot. This allows multiple users to share the same transmission medium (e.g. radio frequency) while using only the part of its bandwidth they require. TDMA is used in the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM), Personal Digital Cellular (PDC) and iDEN digital cellular standards, among others. It is also used extensively in satellite systems, local area networks, physical security systems, and combat-net radio systems.

TDMA features
--Shares single carrier frequency with multiple users
--Non-continuous transmission makes handoff simpler
--Slots can be assigned on demand
--Less stringent power control due to reduced interuser interference
--Higher synchronization overhead
--Equalization is necessary for high data rates
--Frequency/slot allocation complexity
--Pulsating power envelop: Interference with other devices

A major advantage of TDMA is that the radio part of the mobile only needs to listen and broadcast for its own timeslot. For the rest of the time, the mobile can carry out measurements on the network, detecting surrounding transmitters on different frequencies. This allows safe inter frequency handovers, something which is difficult in CDMA systems, not supported at all in IS-95 and supported through complex system additions in Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS). This in turn allows for co-existence of microcell layers with macrocell layers. But, CDMA supports "soft hand-off" which allows a mobile phone to be in communication with up to 6 base stations simultaneously, a type of "same-frequency handover". The incoming packets are compared for quality, and the best one is selected. This enables CDMA to perform in areas where TDMA calls would be dropped.

A disadvantage of TDMA systems is that they create interference at a frequency which is directly connected to the timeslot length. This is the irritating buzz which can sometimes be heard if a GSM phone is left next to a radio or speakers. Another disadvantage is that the "dead time" between timeslots limits the potential bandwidth of a TDMA channel. This is why early efforts to incorporate timeslots into UMTS failed, leaving UMTS as a purely CDMA technology. The only country to continue pursuing TD-SCDMA (time division synchronous CDMA) is mainland China, perhaps because the government does not want to pay patent royalties to Qualcomm of the USA or licensing fees to the mainly European UMTS consortium.

In the GSM system, the synchronization of the mobile phones is achieved by sending timing advance commands from the base station which instructs the mobile phone to transmit earlier and by how much. This compensates for propagation delay as the speed of radio waves is the same as light (finite). The mobile phone is not allowed to transmit for its entire timeslot, but there is a guard interval at the end of each timeslot. As the transmission moves into the guard period, the mobile network adjusts the timing advance to synchronize the transmission.
Initial synchronization of a phone requires even more care.

Before a mobile transmits there is no way to actually know the offset required. For this reason, an entire timeslot has to be dedicated to mobiles attempting to contact the network, known as the RACH (Random Access Channel, used in mobile phones or other wireless device on a TDMA-based network when it needs to get the attention of a base station in order to initially synchronize its transmission with the base station) in GSM. The mobile attempts to broadcast at the beginning of the timeslot, as received from the network. If the mobile is located next to the base station, there will be no time delay and this will succeed. If, however, the mobile phone is at just less than 35km from the base station, the time delay will mean the mobile's broadcast arrives at the very end of the timeslot. In that case, the mobile will be instructed to broadcast its messages starting nearly a whole timeslot earlier than would be expected otherwise. Finally, if the mobile is beyond the 35 km cell range in GSM, then the RACH will arrive in a neighboring timeslot and be ignored. It is this feature, rather than limitations of power which limits the range of a GSM cell to 35 kilometers when no special extension techniques are used.

Memories Of GARY KASPAROV

The 1984 World Championship match between Anatoly Karpov and Garry Kasparov had its fair share of ups and downs, as well as the most controversial finish to a competitive match ever. Karpov started off in very good form, and after nine games Kasparov found himself 4-0 down in a "first to six wins" match. Fellow players predicted a 6-0 whitewash of Kasparov within 18 games.

For Karpov, the result so far would go some way toward exorcising the ghost of Bobby Fischer's Candidates results in 1971, and would further cement Karpov as a true World Champion.
Kasparov dug in, with inspiration from a Russian poet before each game, and battled with Karpov into seventeen successive draws. Karpov duly won the next decisive game before Kasparov fought back with another series of draws until game 32, Kasparov's first win against the World Champion.

At this point Karpov, twelve years older than Kasparov, was close to exhaustion, and not looking like the player who started this match. Kasparov won games 47 and 48 to bring the scores to 5-3 in Karpov's favour. Then the match was ended without result by Florencio Campomanes, the President of FIDE, and a new match was announced to start a few months later.
The termination of the match was a matter of some controversy. At the press conference at which he announced his decision, Campomanes cited the health of the two players, which had been put under strain by the length of the match, despite the fact that both Karpov and Kasparov stated that they would prefer the match to continue. Karpov had lost 10 kg (22 lb) over the course of the match and had been hospitalized several times. Kasparov, however, was in excellent health and extremely resentful of Campomanes' decision, asking him why he was abandoning the match if both players wanted to continue. It would appear that Kasparov, who had won the last two games before the suspension, felt the same way as some commentators — that he was now the favourite to win the match despite his 5-3 deficit. He appeared to be physically stronger than his opponent, and in the later games seemed to have been playing the better chess.

The match became the first, and so far only, world championship match to be abandoned without result. Kasparov's relations with Campomanes and FIDE were greatly strained, and the feud between the two would eventually come to a head in 1993 with Kasparov's complete break-away from FIDE.

Vs Deep Blue

The computer system dubbed "Deep Blue" was the first machine to win a chess game against a reigning world champion (Garry Kasparov) under regular time controls. This first win occurred on February 10, 1996, and Deep Blue - Kasparov, 1996, Game 1 is a famous chess game. However, Kasparov won 3 games and drew 2 of the following games, beating Deep Blue by a score of 4–2. The match concluded on February 17, 1996.
Deep Blue was then heavily upgraded (unofficially nicknamed "Deeper Blue") and played Kasparov again in May 1997, winning the six-game rematch 3.5–2.5, ending on May 11th. The final game is at Deep Blue - Kasparov, 1997, Game 6. Deep Blue thus became the first computer system to defeat a reigning world champion in a match under standard chess tournament time controls.

Deep Blue's evaluation function was initially written in a generalized form, with many to-be-determined parameters (e.g. how important is a safe king position compared to a space advantage in the center, etc.). The optimal values for these parameters were then determined by the system itself, by analyzing thousands of master games. The evaluation function had been split into 8,000 parts, many of them designed for special positions. In the opening book there were over 4,000 positions and 700,000 grandmaster games. The endgame database contained many six piece endgames and all five or fewer piece positions. Before the second match, the chess knowledge of the program was fine tuned by grandmaster Joel Benjamin. The opening library was provided by the grandmasters Miguel Illescas, John Fedorovich and Nick De Firmian.

After the lost match, Kasparov said that he sometimes saw deep intelligence and creativity in the machine's moves, which he could not understand. He also suggested that humans may have helped the machine during the match. He demanded a rematch, but IBM declined and retired Deep Blue.

Larter, Feng-hsiung Hsu (One of the mail programmers of Deep Blue), later claimed in his book Behind Deep Blue: Building the Computer that Defeated the World Chess Champion that he had the rights to use the Deep Blue design to build a bigger machine independently of IBM to take Kasparov's rematch offer, but Kasparov refused to agree to a rematch.

Discover the 90/10 Principle
---By Stephen Covey

It will change your life (at least the way you react to situations).

What is this principle? 10% of life is made up of what happens to you. 90% of life is decided by how you react.

What does this mean?We really have no control over 10% of what happens to us. We cannot stop the car from breaking down.

The plane will be late arriving, which throwsour whole schedule off. A driver may cut us off in traffic. We have no control over this 10%. The other 90% is different. You determine the other 90%.How? By your reaction. You cannot control a red light., but you can control your reaction. Don't let people fool you; YOU can control how you react.

Let's use an example. You are eating breakfast with your family. Your daughter knocks over a cup of coffee onto your business shirt. You have no control over what justhappened. What happens next will be determined by how you react. You curse. You harshly scold your daughter for knocking the cup over. She breaks down in tears. After scolding her, you turn to your spouse and criticize her forplacing the cup too close to the edge of the table. A short verbal battle follows. You storm upstairs and change your shirt. Back downstairs, youfind your daughter has been too busy crying to finish breakfast and get ready for school. She misses the bus. Your spouse must leave immediatelyfor work. You rush to the car and drive your daughter to school. Because you are late, you drive 40 miles an hour in a 30 mph speed limit. After a 15-minutedelay and throwing $60 traffic fine away, you arrive at school. Your daughter runs into the building without saying goodbye. After arriving atthe office 20 minutes late, you find you forgot your briefcase.Your day has started terrible. As it continues, it seems to get worse and worse. Youlook forward to coming home, When you arrive home, you find small wedge in your relationship with your spouse and daughter. Why? Because of how you reacted in the morning.

Why did you have a bad day?

A) Did the coffee cause it?
B) Did your daughter cause it?
C) Did the policeman cause it?
D) Did you cause it?

The answer is " D".

You had no control over what happened with the coffee. How you reacted in those 5 seconds is what caused your bad day.

Here is what could have andshould have happened.Coffee splashes over you. Your daughter is about to cry. You gently say,"It's ok honey, you just need, to be more careful next time".Grabbing atowel you rush upstairs. After grabbing a new shirt and your briefcase, you come back down in time to look through the window and see your childgetting on the bus. She turns and waves. You arrive 5 minutes early and cheerfully greet the staff. Your boss comments on how good the day you arehaving.Notice the difference? Two different scenarios. Both started the same. Both ended different. Why?Because of how you REACTED.

You really do not have any control over 10% of what happens. The other 90% was determined by your reaction. Here are some ways to apply the 90/10 principle. If someone says something negative about you, don't be a sponge. Let the attack roll off like water on glass. You don't have to let the negativecomment affect you!

React properly and it will not ruin your day. A wrong reaction could result in losing a friend, being fired, getting stressed out etc.

How do you react if someone cuts you off in traffic? Do you lose your temper? Pound on the steering wheel? A friend of mine had the steeringwheel fall off) Do you curse? Does your blood pressure skyrocket? Do you try and bump them?WHO CARES if you arrive ten seconds later at work? Why let the cars ruin your drive? Remember the 90/10 principle, and do not worry about it.You are told you lost your job.

Why lose sleep and get irritated? It will work out. Use your worrying energy and time into finding another job. Theplane is late; it is going to mangle your schedule for the day.Why take out your frustration on the flight attendant? She has no control over what isgoing on. Use your time to study, get to know the other passenger.

Why get stressed out? It will just make things worse. Now you know the 90-10 principle. Apply it and you will be amazed at the results. You will lose nothing if you try it. The 90-10 principle isincredible. Very few know and apply this principle. The result? Millions of people are suffering from undeserved stress, trials, problems andheartache. We all must understand and apply the 90/10 principle.

It CAN change your life!!!

RSS - Really Simple Syndication

RSS is a super-convenient way for you to be alerted to the latest news and posts. What is it actually ??? To get tips on this, i made a search on net and got it now. Its Nothing but the Device Interoperability (Between the products). The products from different vendors should work together in a wireless LAN.
The devices which are wi-fi enabiled such as Laptop, PDAs, Mobiles will connect to the access point through web. Also used to make an wireless Mesh Network. Wi-Fi also allows connectivity in peer-to-peer mode, which enables devices to connect directly with each other (From Different Vendors). This connectivity mode is useful in consumer electronics and gaming applications.

.NET FrameWork 3.0

Today, when i chat with one of my friends from bangalore saids that .NET Framework 3.0 is released.
